Refund & Exchange Policy
This is the refund and exchange policy from the classic era of the USA Magnets and More store, preserved here for the record alongside our shipping information. It reflects how a small American family business balanced fairness to customers against the realities of made-to-order production.
The Policy As It Stood
- Contact first. All customers were asked to get in touch before returning or exchanging anything — most issues were resolved in that first conversation, often without a return at all.
- Exchanges. For exchanges, the customer was responsible for the cost of shipping the item back and reshipping the replacement.
- Returns. All returns were subject to a 20% restocking fee plus shipping charges.
- Personalized and custom items. Because personalized magnets were printed to order with a customer-approved proof, they could not be restocked — which is exactly why nothing custom ever printed before the proof was approved.
The Low Price Guarantee
The flip side of a firm return policy was the most generous pricing promise we knew how to make: show us the same magnet on another site, and we'll match their price. The Low Price Guarantee sat on nearly every page of the classic store, and it was honored without argument. A customer should never have needed to return a magnet over price — and almost none ever did.
Why the Policy Looked This Way
Magnets are a low-priced, made-in-small-batches product, and return shipping often cost more than the magnet itself. The restocking fee discouraged casual returns of stock items while the contact-first rule let us simply replace genuinely defective magnets outright — a misprinted or damaged-in-transit ribbon was reprinted and reshipped, no return required. Two decades on, we'd give a small e-commerce business the same advice this policy embodied: make contact easy, make defects your problem rather than the customer's, and put your generosity into the price rather than the fine print.
Questions Today
With the store's transactional era closed, this policy is historical — but if you have a question about a long-ago order or a well-loved magnet that needs a successor, the contact page still reaches us, and the care guide can extend the life of the magnets you already have.
